JUST A DREAM - Jason Chen and Joseph Vincent

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is one of the most popular website among students because it provides basic materials that are needed in school. Sometimes I use wikipedia in doing my school work because it has straight to the point definitions that can help me with my work. During this course, we had a homework about creating a wikipedia article, I had a hard time at first about creating my own article because I don't know the steps I need to create one. However, with the help of some of my classmates and "google" I was able to create my own article but I wasn't able to handed it in specifically the collaboration one because none of the friends I've talked to did it. Some problems we have encountered was the sudden disappearance of our article. The website deleted some of the articles we wrote because of their site regulations. That was the hardest part in creating articles.

Business Computing - BLOGS

During this semester, we have studied blogs in our Business Computing Class as a part of the curriculum. Blogs can have a number of uses in a person's everyday life. I used it sometimes to post experiences that I want to share to others such as happy memories and great events. Blogs can also be used in advertising an event or any special occassions. It can be accessed easily without any cost.

I have learned a lot on this class especially in using the Microsoft Office. I have learned the easy way to use Word, Publisher, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. In Microsoft Word, I have learned how to create some cover letters and design my own pamphlet. In publisher, I was able to make some newsletters that are really useful. I also learned how to graph some datas in excel and make some computations easily using the formulas for numbers and words. I was able to make some good and professional presentation using powerpoint which is really helpful for my future presentations in my program.

The best part of this course was the idea of learning something but you are having fun doing it and you are not stressing yourself. I like how we can make our homeworks based on what we like not on something that we have to copy. I like how we can ask questions during exams and be able to get mark from it and not mark it as cheating. Overall, the course was fun! Everyone played there part perfectly. :)

Business Computing Fall 2010

As the finals are approaching and the semester is finally over, I can say that this semester taught me some new ideas and experiences. I have learned how to be patient waiting for my next class, thinking that this class is at evening and my class before this ends at 4:00pm making me feel like going home and just do my work at home, however I didn’t so it taught me how to be patient. J
I’ve also learned how to open up my ideas because like what you’ve said, that is where you are going to mark us all. I’ve also learned to talk to some of my classmates and ask questions when I don’t understand the topic. J It was a pretty good semester and I can say that I did enjoy the class even though it ends at 9:00pm! J

Microsoft Powerpoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is also one of the Microsoft offices I use often because of class presentations. I have learned how to use some of the tools that I don’t really use often before. I also learned how to create my own slide design which was my favorite part because this way I can make my original and unique background for my future presentations. Some of the lessons I’ve learned in Microsoft PowerPoint are the following:
·         Animations
·         Slide Transitions
·         Master Slide
·         Slide Layout
·         Inserting Media Clips
·         Timing slides and images
These are only some of the lessons I’ve learned how to use effectively in PowerPoint. It was really helpful in all my presentations and I know working more on this will help me create my work more effectively.

Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher was one of the Microsoft offices I enjoy using the most because of the template designs it offers. It helps students a lot especially in doing some greeting cards, envelopes, and brochures. It has a lot of page size that is pretty helpful to students to help them create their work efficiently. Some of the topics that I’ve learned in Publisher during the couple of sessions we had in class are the following:
·         Templates
·         Changing Page Size
·         Color Schemes
·         Text Box
·         Design Gallery Object
Using this program is almost the same as using Microsoft Word. The only difference is in Publisher, you want to create something that you have to show and attract people in public and this program is the best option you have to do that.

Microsoft Excel

Using Microsoft Excel has always been confusing for me because of the formulas and charts. During the couple of classes we had spent studying Excel, I have learned how to use the formulas and charts efficiently and I’ve realized it wasn’t that hard after all. Some of the materials that we covered that helped me a lot during the semester are the following:
·         Text Formulas
·         Sorting and Filtering
·         Formulas
·         Charts (Pie, Line, Bar)
·         Merging
·         AutoSum
This topics made my life easier especially when I have to put some of my data’s into graph. Moreover, the computation and text formulas made things easy for me. Using excels and word together taught me how to send letters or emails to a number of people by using mail merge. It was a big help especially it helps me save more time and energy and thus made things faster and easier.
